Well this is the last update this side of Christmas and apart from having a mental weekend (working) there is nothing much to say...Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Father Christmas brings you everything you want.
First two tracks of Daniel Bedingfield's album are up...check them out, it's not a bad album.
Man, Christmas is getting so close now I can smell it, lots of lovely prezzies for me to rip open with childish joy...plus Two Towers is open in 2 days time so that's a biggie in my book, probably won't go to see it the first couple of days cause you get all the kids and twats trying to get in and be the first to see the film so I think we will leave it a little while....On a sad note I hear a mate of mine killed his Civic Type 'R' the other day so Lee, if you read this before I manage to get round to phoning you, send me a message telling me what happened...hope your o.k......and if you are you should be whipped for killing a top car like the Type 'R'.
Last two tracks of the Nickelback album are up...hmmm, what to put up next??
Jesus I'm knackered, as well as my day work I worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the club this weekend...Sunday was a bugger, the staff were having their staff party but we could not close Flares, so, as Fliss is the manager she decided that she would work...she also decided that her good husband (me) should work with her. Don't worry she said, Sundays are always quite, should be an easy night for you (famous last words I thought) so about 30 minutes after we opened a very large crowd of people decided that Flares would be an excellent stop for some drinks, it would have been easy if they had walked in in dribs and drabs but no, they all piled in (about 40 of them) so we were struggling right from the go. Well to cut a long story short we got through the night and survived till the end....which is where the second part of the story picks up, all the staff came back for some drinks at the end of the night, it was a great laugh but I could only stay till about 2:30 am as I had work in the morning (another Loughborough drop) so I left to go to bed leaving my wife to enjoy herself...which she did till 9:00am in the morning when she caught a bus to come home, she got in just as I was about to leave to go to work and she went to bed for a few hours before she had to get up to go to Birmingham for a meeting at 6:00pm....manic!!!
Not much happening at the moment...working, sleeping ect...My tarantula shed its skin again the other day if that sort of thing interests you!! Next 2 tracks from Nickelback are up..enjoy
Could life get any more exciting?... The story go's like this, Mark had a delivery to make in Loughborough (up near Birmingham) today and so arranged to borrow his boss's car to do the journey, Felicity had a meeting in Doncaster (63 miles up from Loughborough) and so Mark said "Why don't you keep me company on my journey and I'll drop you at Doncaster on my way up" so the happy couple set of on their big adventure. While crossing the seven bridge Mark suddenly felt a violent shaking from the steering wheel so he pulled over onto the hard shoulder suspecting a flat tyre, but no, all was well and so with a shrug of the shoulders Mark and Fliss set off again. Approximately 60 miles into our journey on the M5 northbound they were cruising at about 80 mph in the outside lane (normally on my own I belt it at about 100 mph, but Fliss hates me speeding) when a car pulled over into the outside lane in front of us (can't be arsed to carry on with the third person perspective) to overtake a wagon and I lifted of the gas to slow up when the steering started shaking violently again, I managed to make it to the hard shoulder and decided that was enough, it was to risky to carry on.....We phoned the AA and they sent someone out to recover us of the motorway to the nearest junction and check the car out, after inspecting the car he said there was play in the N/S/F wheel and reckoned the bearings had gone. Now at this point we thought it would be a simple case of relaying us back to Cardiff as we had breakdown cover......oh no!!....the cover Fliss had was just the very basic package (part of a package with her new bank account) and we would have to pay £150 to get us back to Cardiff, my boss said he would pay me the money back and so we agreed to pay for the relay to home, BUT, the guy who had recovered us from the motorway did not cover Cardiff, in fact he didn't cover anywhere outside Gloucester, so he took us back to his depot and someone else would relay us back home. As he was unloading the car at his depot for this other guy to then load up on his wagon and take us home, a load of bearing 'fell' out from under the car...turns out that it was not the wheel bearing that had worn and loosened but the driveshaft had gone bye-bye...All ended happily as he got us home but I think we will be upgrading our recovery policy as soon as possible............and I have a delivery of pallets to Plymouth on Friday in a 7.5 ton truck, fun!!
I finally got my game (Roller Coaster Tycoon 2) to work on my pc, without any help from Infogrames who were about as much use as a scuba diving suit in space, they didn't even reply to my e-mail so bollocks to em', still, that'll be the reason for lack of updates...I've been playing that in my spare time and enjoying it so much I thought updates could wait...till now, next 2 tracks from Nickelbacks album are up so get them while their hot!!!! I'm sure there is more that I should be writing here but to be honest I can't be arsed, I want to get back to my game...End of Line......(Bought Tron on DVD the other day, what a fab film...still a classic)
Today is indeed the 16th November which, in my calendar, can only mean one thing....its the wife's birthday today, it also means that she is now 24 years of age and although she's still a young one (compared to me anyway) she's just 1 year away from her 1/4 century milestone...hip, hip hurray. So happy birthday babe and many more to come.
The other day I was doing some deliveries for a mate, it was a simple job..load up a wagon with 4 pallets in Cardiff and drop them off at Plymouth, simple right, well that's not taking into account my dithering ineptitude this particular mourning. The correct route for the drop, as anyone who lives in the U.K could probably testify is, from Cardiff, down the M4 onto the M49 and then onto the M5 all the way to the end which takes you to Plymouth...I know this and yet I still managed to end up...wait for it...on the M4 less than 60 miles away from London, I had gone 100 miles out of my way before I had noticed that I had not come off at the M49. Anybody watching me at this precise moment of realization would have seen a man punching and swearing at himself and throwing his arms around inside the cab in complete despair. Anyway, when I had calmed down I came of at the first junction and decided to cut across the country via the A36 and then the A303, which would have been fine except that its all hills and my wagon was seriously overweight, on a flat piece of road I could not get over 55 mph and on the hills it dropped down to 20 mph, well to cut a long story short, after setting off at 11:00am for a simple drop I reached Plymouth at 5:00pm and got back home at 8:30pm...what a day. If there was a plus side to this story I would be that I got to see Stonehenge for the first time and it looked great. New album posted in the downloads page.
To carry on from were I ranted a couple of days ago, my friends and I have decided to join the crusade against copyright CD's, or moreover, the practice of corrupting the CD on purpose to make it unreadable on a PC and hence, so the manufacturers believe, prevent PC owners with CDR/RW drives from ripping tracks from CD's and converting them to MP'3s. At the moment this mainly affects Audio CD's but as my moan the other day highlights, it is being adopted in some small part for PC games, with rather annoying results.i.e not being able to complete install of your game. Anyway, to find out more on the subject of copyright protection on audio CD's go here or click the banner and the general consensus is that they can shove their copyright protection up their arse!!!
Last 3 mp3's of 2 Live Crew are up, new album next week. What a last couple of days I've had. went into PC World the other day to have a look around and on a table , for sale, was an ex-display HP 1215 Photosmart printer for £40, bargain I thought, it was only missing the drivers (download from hp) and the power lead (had a spare kettle lead lying around at home) so I bought it, took it home and hooked it up.....nothing, well I say nothing, more like an error message on the LCD screen, so I went online to look at the manuals that HP posted on their site but I was still none the wiser, so I took it back to PC World to see what they had to say and they told me to ring HP and get them to come out and fix it as it was still under warranty, so I did, and they said that the problem was a hardware fault that was common on very early models and that PC World should have known that and they could only exchange it for and second hand refurbished one, I was a bit pissed of with PC World at this point and decided (call me snob if you want) that I wanted my money back, partly out of principle and partly because this machine was virtually new..and I've seen the state of refurbished peripals and they ain't pretty. With my £40 reclaimed from a snide 'helper' I decided to buy a game, RollerCoaster 2. It had only just come out and I had enjoyed the first game so I thought 'what the hell', took it home and tried to install it, it went through its install process and then right at the end it came up with this.."CRC Error: The file C:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2\rct 2.exe doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file, The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted". WTF I thought, so I tried again and still the same, so I took it back to PC World and got another copy and tried to install it, but still I got the same message, so now I've sent an e-mail to Infogrames to see if they have any ideas...2 Corrupted discs, more than coincidence me thinks.....whew! Think I might shop somewhere else.
Times a flying by, so busy that I've had no time for updates...bugger...........What shitty weather we had a couple of days ago, force gail winds an all and very cold to, plus the fact that its starting to get dark at 4:30 pm now, what's that all about?, really starting to get me down..time to emigrate. A bit of a mad, bad week so far, my sister nearly had her house burnt down the other night..ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but some twat set fire to her garden hedge and ran off, if Steve hadn't of seen it then it could have been really bad and then Chris (my best man) and his Fiancée Sarah have apparently split again...nightmare, still, you can always come to Cardiff for a piss up mate ;-)
Well I'm feeling better now, headache progressed into bad stomach cramps (or something, won't go into detail..lets just say it wasn't pleasant) but I'm feeling much better now...with any luck I shall stick a Flares nightclub page up soon so you guys and girls can see what goes on at our little club and for those that I have taken photo's off, be afraid, be very afraid!!!
Short and to the point...really hard week at work...really bad headache at the moment...can't be arsed to write anything else because of the really bad headache at the moment.
Another update in a couple of days when I'm feeling better.
Happy Days!!!!, well mostly anyway..Sorry about the lack of an update for the last week or so but I've been very busy, mostly work but also birthdays and what-not so it's been very difficult to get some free time to do anything for the site, the good news is that the car insurance has been sorted and we are back to paying what we were last year and not the £1500 that Ford Insure wanted from use (bye bye greedy bastards!!).Happy birthday goes out to Sarah for her 21'st, it was a lovely night and Fliss and I enjoyed it immensely, and also a big shout out and clap to the Doorstaff of Flares for Saturday night, you showed those winky wanky rugby players the color of their blood and sent them packing (after the third time they kicked of) but yet again the Police were fucking useless..probably to much paperwork for them to fill out on a Saturday night the poor loves. Anyway that's enough verbal for one day so bye......................!
Back of holiday now, really in a good mood for about 20 seconds before we opened our mail for the 2 weeks to find a letter from our car insurance brokers informing us that our insurance was up for renewal, pretty harmless you think, well in a perfect world it would be but this is Mark and Flicks world and they have decided in their infinite wisdom that £850 odd is not enough to pay for a 1.8 litre diesel and now require .........£1500 a year......why you ask, well, in May of this year our little fiesta was damaged to the tune of £655 when some twat tried to break in, they never got in though because the alarm went of and they were seen on the cctv of the travel lodge that my wife was staying in. Totally not our fault you would think, as did we so we claimed on our insurance because I was under the impression that was one of the reasons we paid for it only to find out that as well as losing our no claims bonus we will end up paying for the damage of the car anyway, plus extra, makes me fucking mad (pardon my french) the fact that someone from the insurance company told me it would NOT affect my policy and if I had know otherwise we could have paid for the damage out of our own pockets and protected our claims and policy amount, needless to say we will not be staying with those group of rip-off tosspots anymore, thanks a lot FORD INSURE.
Final 3 tracks from the Linkin Park album are up, go check them out.
A mixture of joy and sorrow over the weekend, in Cardiff, just down the road from our club, there is a pub called Walkabout (it's an Australian theme bar) it's a massive place that holds about 1,500 people and on Saturday at about 10:30 pm a 12ft by 10ft section of the ceiling fell about 30ft onto the unsuspecting revelers underneath it. A few people were hurt, one seriously (the sorrow part of this story) and the police closed down the street while everyone was evacuated. The news report state that the cause of the collapse was a water leak but the true nature of the leak was (and this is the joy part).....a sewage pipe, everyone got covered in raw sewage (shit and piss to the layman) and they have now closed the pub for a refurbishment which throws more trade our way...well I laughed!!!
Well, we are going away again for a couple of weeks cause the wife has about 4 weeks holiday to take or she loses them at Christmas (which is just under 4 months away....bugger!!), she probably won't get to take them all but we are going to try and make the most of it, plus it's her mums birthday on the 7th September (big five 0..ooppss).
Something that I've just found out which is really pissing me off right now is that some of the content within these hallowed pages is hosted from my 'free' website space from Tiscali, now it seems that just being a member is not good enough for them and have imposed a few restrictions on their website space, most notably being that you have to dial up and connect directly to your Lineone/Tiscali account in order to access your FTP and upload/download to your webspace, which is a pain in the arse as I'm on cable...guess I'm going to have to stick my modem card back in my PC and upload from there..(i would not have bothered but they do offer a very generous 50 meg free, so I would like to continue using the service). Next thing you know, the bastards will be requiring you to log in just to download your mail.
Sorry about the lack of a recent update but I acquired flash, bought a book and I'm attempting to learn how to do it, which is fun...
Track 5 and 6 from Linkin Parks Hybrid Album are up together with a few more mpeg and flash downloads...enjoy and may you burn in hell!!! sinners...
Yes indeed, it's our 1st Year wedding anniversary today (yeah to us) and it's been a great year. Thank you to all the best wishes we have received and we look forward to more next year...
Got the car back on Friday and it cost a total of £481 pounds which was probably half the price that Ford would of charged us so a nice saving there. Not much more to say this time round (2 more Linkin Park mp3's are up in the Downloads section) so I'll leave it at that.
All is well in the land of Flick and Mark, still haven't heard back about the car so I'll give the guy a call tomorrow to see if he has an idea of the sort of cost it's going to be.
First two tracks from Linkin Parks Hybrid album is up if anybody's interested and they will be there for a few days, also some other bits and bobs have been added here and there so have fun!!
First weekend back at the nightclub since our holiday and Saturday turned into a complete bastard of a night, there was a football match scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday at the millennium stadium here in Cardiff so we had thousands of people on Saturday night milling around Cardiff center trying to get into clubs and bars and there is just not enough room for an extra 10,000 people in the center, we had 100's of people queuing for over an hour trying to get into our club and lets just say you could cut the atmosphere with a knife!!!........................
Well it seems that the cars death was a lot more serious than I had anticipated, although it is more than likely our fault that it happened. Seems that the cam belt snapped as Fliss was starting to pull of down the road (thank god she was only going about 10/15 mph) and when we took the head of the block at least three valves looked like they needed replacing, so we are basically talking about a top rebuild. If it had been a petrol engine it might not have been so bad because the engine would have been quite cold but being a diesel the engine generates a lot of heat very quickly in order to run properly (glow plugs as apposed to spark plugs)...anyway the short of it is that I will cost us about £500 to put right, and that I'm assured is cheap for the job.
Fliss is in Chester as I write (type) this for her grans funeral so I hope that went o.k. That's about it apart from me also telling you that I will try and get some MP3's on the download page, problem is server space, do I compress the music so much that I compromise quality or keep them to about 3/4 meg and only have 1 or 2 a week, hmm have to think about that...
Well we are back from our little break in Wales and although the weather was really shitty we still had a nice time, the highlight possibly being the Nantwitch Show which is a little sort of farm show thing (not sure what it is really) and it wasn't the highlight because of the stands and stuff but purely for the 2 inches of liquid mud that you had to wade through to get from stand to stand, well the dog loved it anyway cause she was filthy and we were all soaked because it was raining and like muppets we forgot to take our coats with us...nice!!
On a sad note is the news that Fliss's gran died while we were on holiday and has kind of put a dampener on things so I wish Tony all the best and hope they get the death certificate sorted (another story for another day), and last but not least our little fiesta died this morning..Fliss got 10 feet down the road when the car just gave up, with water coming from the expansion tank so its off to the hospital for our car to find out what the hell is wrong with it this time...not so nice!!
Well, the wife and I are off today for a week to get away from the grindstone of daily life so I thought I would stick a little update for you guys (for the ones that care) to keep you busy. Before we go on holiday we are going to see Austin Powers Goldmember at 3pm U.K time as a little deal with the local cinema..couple of weeks ago they came to Flick to ask if they could have a private get together for all their staff in Flares nightclub, which she agreed to without charging them rental and as a thankyou they have given all the staff of Flares free tickets to see a movie and we chose Goldmember which saves us about £5 a head, nice!
Well what a fun couple of days that's been, I've been unable to update the site for the last 5 or so days because I thought that my modem had died on me, but it turned out that having spent about 2 hours on the phone to NTL (either in the queue, being cut off or talking to a faceless being on the other end of the phone and them finally agreeing to send an engineer out to my house) that all I had was a lose connection on the signal cable...now I feel like a complete twat for wasting mine and their time over something so simple that it should have been the first thing I checked but I also have to ask the question..if a digital signal is so sensitive that even an ever so slightly lose connection can inhibit data flow...why was it not suggested on the phone, after all, they are supposed to be a technical help desk.....AND I missed my mothers birthday so happy belated birthday mum.
Well what a weekend its been, staff collapsing from panic attacks (hope your o.k gemma), people fighting and getting their heads split open and off duty female coppers getting arsey on the door cause someone said this and now their being told that thinking they can just walk straight into Flares because they are cops...just goes to show how most cops are more bent than my little finger, reminds me about the time when a copper came in and flashed his badge at me in the ticket booth thinking that was going to get him free entry, fucking nerve of the bloke apart from the fact that they are not allowed to use their position within the force to gain privileges I just don't like most coppers...they seem to fall into two categories...either bent or liars.
On a happier note it was most entertaining to watch a half naked man, obviously out of his head, chasing random members of the public and kicking cars up and down St Mary's Street in Cardiff. The police arrested him in the end but boy, what a fruit cake!!!
02/07/02... Dumped Homestead in favor of a new host...I'VE GIVEN MY SITE A SMALL REVAMP, IT'S STILL CRAP BUT IT'S A LESS FUSSY KIND OF CRAP, NOT AS MANY TACKY ANIMATED GIFFS AND WHAT-NOT. (ps navigate back via the banners)
AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED BY NOW..THE LINKS ARE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE PAGE, THIS WAS DECIDED THROUGH SHEER BLOODY-MINDEDNESS AND A DELIBERATE LACK OF CONSIDERATION FOR THE PEOPLE THAT MIGHT VISIT THIS WEB SITE. ( think it works quite well actually )
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO PUT A SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME AND FLICK BUT ARE TO EMBARRASSED TO ADMIT IT, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND YOU KNOW YOU CARE..
