Richard Biggs as Dr Benjamin Franklin in Babylon 5

A bit of news that completely snuck passed me till today is that Richard Biggs of Babylon 5 fame has died at the tender age of 44.
You may or may not know of this award winning Sci-Fi series which ran for about 5 years but i enjoyed it immensely and the sudden death of one of it's primary co-stars is shocking.
Apparently Richard got out of bed on the 22nd of this month and just collapsed..it is uncertain what the main cause was at this time but the paramedics at the scene suspected an aneurysm or stroke.
Let it be a reminder to all those out there of the uncertainties of life and the frailties of the human body that it can just give up on you at any given moment for any reason and you will probably never feel it coming.
My condolences to his family.

Thought it worth mentioning that we will be driving down to Yate Tuesday night to visit family and friends.
We will be about till Friday and hope to fit in as many visits as possible before the arrival of the little one rendering our travel desires non-existent.
So Chris, Simon, Matt, Neil ect...prepare to be invaded by northern monkeys!!

Just to bulk out this entry a bit i thought i would mention the two films that i recently watched on DVD...i'm not one for watching just any old rubbish (especially not at 3 bloody 50 a film) so tend to just watch the so called 'big releases', one off which me and Felicity watched last night.
The Last Samurai is a bit off an epic story lasting some two and a half hours (or it felt that long) and see's Tom Cruise doing the sort of role that Kevin Costner was doing about 5 years ago.
I'm not going to do a review here, i just wanted to say what a truly engaging film i found it to be...bit slow and tiresome at times but throughly enjoyable with some lovely authentic swordplay....which brings me onto my fav film of the year so far....Kill Bill pt1..fabulous, loved every minute of it and was rather pissed off when i realised i had to wait for pt2 for the conclusion.
The blend of anime and live action, the fantastic sword action harking back to the classic Japanese moves like Sword Of Vengeance and Shogun Assassin with bucket loads of gushing blood and black humour and the very credible performances of the main characters ensures that this 2 part series will instantly become a cult classic, another fine movie by Quentin Tarantino.

We have about 3 weeks to go before Felicity is due to give birth and its all started to get exciting..
Having just started her maternity leave we thought it about time we go and get the last of the 'essential' equipment for the baby and took a trip to Toys R Us in Preston. They have a great baby section, cleverly called Babies R Us (the endless nights of consultation and top level board meetings to come up with that name must have been back breaking razz) where Felicity had a whale of a time buying stuff...we did get a really cool pram..sorry, travel system that will even take the child out unsupervised with it's intelligent on board plastic computer...well ok, it's not that clever but it is great and Felicity can compact it down into a carrying position with just one hand, very practical. I was amazed when we initially went looking for prams at the cost of some of these 'Travel Systems'...one brand that stuck out as very expensive was the Mamas and Papas brand..£450 for a pram that will last all of about 1 year and to top it all they have seasonal colours..what the chuffing hell is wrong with just a colour range instead of changing the colours for the new season and actually charging more for them, sheesh!!.
Anyway, one last thing that we ordered which will hopefully arrive on Tuesday is a Digital Camcorder so that we can catch all those magical moments from day one on film and we can save them on DVD to send to family. Of course thats all the camera will be used for so any perverse suggestions to the contrary will be looked upon with scorn.......as wishful thinking is not actively encouraged in our household.
