So here are the first pics of Anthony..born at 17:40 on Wednesday 1st Febuary at a sizable 8lb 1oz (yes i know that was a week ago).
It's been a bit of a shock to the system and it feels like being first time parents again, you forget about the sleepless nights and the whole black poo and vomit.
Never ones to be text book, Felicity went into hospital on Tuesday 31st where she was told that she was 4cm dilated and that she would not need any gel and that they would take her down to the delivery suite in the morning and break her waters.
Was 2pm before i got a call from the hospital that they were taking her down to break her waters so i rushed to the hospital.
After a few minutes a doctor came in to do another exam and told us that Felicity was not infact 4cm dilated and that she would need some gel before going back up to the ward.
About 30 mins after being back on the ward Fliss started getting pains in her back and stomach which were increasing with intensity, the nurse's kept telling us that it was more than likely prostin pain brought on by the gel and that it would soon subside.
After about 2 hours, having taken some pain releif and a warm bath to try and ease the pain, the contraction like pains were starting to really hurt Fliss and after insisting with the nurses that it was more than just 'gel' pain a nurse eventually did another exam.
At this point things moved very fast, after the exam she was whisked down to the delivery suite where she had a final confirmation exam and then they broke her waters.
It was only at this point that Fliss started taking gas and air and the whole labour lasted about 15/20 mins before Anthony was born.
I don't know how much of an effect the gas and air had but i am immensely proud of Felicity for coping the way she did..i got to cut the cord (something i never got the chance to do with Aaron) and we are now a happy family of 4.
Thanks also to the visitors this weekend...hope it wasn't to mush of a baby-fest for you
