03/06/2006 Entry: "Cyprus"

Well, been back from our little holiday in Cyprus nearly a week now and i want to go back, it's taken me a while to post about it but thats cause it's been a bit manic here a home.
So anyway, the fun began on the 21st May when we had to be at Manchester Airport at 8am for checkin and our flight was at 10am.
We get there at 8am, wander up to the check-in desk and were told that due to a fault we are being moved onto the later 11am flight and to proceed to a different check-in desk.
We finally get to check-in for our flight at about 10:30am and make our way to the departures in readiness to start our holiday.
To cut a very long story short, due to technical difficulties our flight was delayed and we never started boarding the plane till about 6pm, by which time we were very pissed off. We were also informed that because of the very long delay they had run out of staff hours???? and that we would be stopping at Gatwick to pick up some more flight crew which added about another 1 1/2 hours to our already very delayed journey.
The flight itself was a pleasant affair and i was surprised how much leg room i had as i normally suffer badly on planes because of the lack of leg room.
Arriving at Larnaca Airport was fairly straight forward except for the fact that our suitcase looked as if it had been dragged behind the plane the entire journey and it was hanging open with white dust on it and the locks looking a bit bent....bugger it thought.
We finally got to our hotel (45 minute drive from airport) at about 3am on the 22nd May, half a day wasted.
The holiday itself was perfect, no problems at all. The weather was absolutely lovely hitting as high as 35/40 degrees celcius at times (apparently a freak heatwave for that time of year!!!) and a lovely wedding smack in the middle of the holiday (great day Lee, congrats again to you and Sam...and thanks for the great evening get togethers as well smile )
Well, no sooner had the holiday started it was at an end (1 week just wasn't long enough) and knowing the crap we went though to get to Cyprus i was expecting more of the same going back......and i was not dissapointed.....and it would seem that our now slightly knackered suitcase would be the culprit.
The was no real delays to speak of at Larnaca Airport and we were soon on our way back......which was a bad journey for me. Seems the plane we came in on was quite a large plane and thats why it had slightly better leg space, the plane back to blighty was much smaller and my feet were fucked by the time we got home, my ankle's swelling up to twice the size for a while. Luckily it was temporary and by the following morning were back to normal.
So there we were in arrivals in Manchester awaiting our suitcase, soon we were the last people there still waiting for our bag so in the end we went to lost luggage desk, filled out all the paperwork then headed out to find our 'Taxi' (thanks again Helen) to take us home.
Suitcase arrived next day by courier looking much the same as it did in Larnica, so we guesed that the locks gave way again at some point and was probably left to one side to be sorted later...so it looks like new bags next year.
Cyprus is a lovely country and it looks like it could be the Procter seasonal vacation spot for years to come, it also seems like Lee and Sam would like to go again so could be a little 2 family event going on.
I have some pics but at the moment i really can be bothered to sort them out as Anthony has turned into a child from hell...........well, not really....he's just turned 4 months and he's teething like there's no tommorow and i must admit it's a little heaving going for me in the evening, i guess Aaron never had it this bad so this is pretty much untamed territory for me.
You missed a great holiday Chris wink
