20/04/2006 Entry: "Better late than never"
As the saying goes, better late than never....so this new post is...a bit late.
Being a father of two has certainly been more tiring than i thought it would and my desire to keep on top of the whole blog business fell by the wayside. No promises of regular posting but an intention to make a better go of it in the interests of keeping family that i don't get to see or talk to very often informed.
So with that in mind i thought i would just comment about the fact that Anthony had his first injection on Tuesday, poor little guy screamed when the nurse stuck that massive needle in him (don't blame him to be honest) and it made him a bit grisly for the rest of the day.
Aaron also had an injection...and in the spirit of all things being a bit 'late' he was due this injection several months ago, it's just that everytime we remembered to take him he would suddenly break out in a cold or bug and he's not allowed the combined MMR jab if he's got a cold/bug.
Yes...the dreaded MMR jab, i've heard all the horror stories about it being responsible for autism and temperament changes and i have to say i had some reservation's about it but there appears to be no factual truth behind the 'stories' and to not immunise a child is just dangerous.
So anyway, he had the jab and this nurse buried this needle into Aarons leg making him scream in floods of tears.........for about 5 seconds at which point the nurse gave him a lolly and he stopped crying, his eye's lit up and all was well in the world again.
It's amazing how time fly's and the realisation that in just over 2 months time Aaron will be 2 years old

I have it on good authority that when a child hits between 2 and 3 your life becomes a nightmare ![]()

there is a truth in the stories about MMR... Wakefeild 'for it was he' actually pointed out in his paper. There MAY be a link between autism and MMR caused by dormant measel bug within the hosts stomach . This has not been proved or disproved and of course the public get no choice. there again there were risks with the single injections as well.
amazing the power of the lollipop :-)
