20/08/2005 Entry: "Car Insurance"
Had my renewal notice through the door and when i read what they were expecting me to pay i nearly choked on my cornflakes.
My policy had shot up by nearly £400 and my no claims bonus had disappeared. I assumed this was because of the accidents to the car but as they were non-fault accidents and both party's had admitted liability i was a bit pissed off at what i thought was a blatant attempt to rip me off.
Anyway, having phoned them it turns out that both claims are still 'open' as they haven't received the money from either party yet.
Considering that the accident involving the police car going into my car was mid January and they still haven't got off their arses about paying back the money they owe is rather two faced as you can be damn sure that if you owed them money they would be sending you nasty letters after a week...the attitude of 'we are the law and we do what we like'!!
Consequently the upshot of this is that until the insurance company get their money back i am treated as an 'at fault' motorist and lose my no claims bonus until such time that the outstanding claims can be closed and my policy re-evaluated and i get reimbursed the difference.
Three words spring to mind........'a', 'barrel' and 'over'.

Happened to me in 1996. Another car crashed into the side of mine as I was turning into my driveway. There was a major dispute in liability and we had to go to court (I eventually won with 100% not my fault).
However as it dragged on for over a year before we went to court my no claims bonus was gone. It had to be treated as if it was my fault until proven otherwise.
And by the time it did go to court and I won whilst I got back expenses, cost of my car, loss of earnings and all that jazz I never even contemplated putting down loss of insurance as something to claim for so lost out on that.
As I had changed insurance companies as well I couldn't get any of my no claims bonus back.
Sucks ass.

That just about sums up insurance companys in my opinion mate. They are all a bunch of money grabbing w*nkers.
Last year my renewal came in at double what it was the year before.Because apprantly my car was no longer a classic car any more.
So as can guess i told them what they could do with their quote.

As far as i know you don't earn any no claims on company car insurance. But they may take the amout of year you have not claimed in to account
