18/07/2005 Entry: "Time to rob a bank"
With the impending (if you like to call 6 months impending) arrival of our new baby i thought i would have a little look at how much money it has cost to feed and dress little Aaron, not that i begrudge spending money on him, quite the opposite infact..i find myself spending small fortunes on him in the knowledge that as he gets older i'm probably going to spoil him even more and more.
For some strange reason i have been collecting all the spoons that you get in the powdered milk tins so i can give a fairly accurate indication as to what milk has cost in the last year, milks prices have fluctuated a bit over the year depending on where you buy them from but on average a tin of milk costs about £5.50 and what with nappies and clothing...basically the bare essentials for a growing lad i have a first year figure of about £650, this figure however doesn't account for 'extras' like jar food, biscuits/nibbles, juice and ready made carton milk.
To be honest the first child is always the expensive one as you have to go out and buy all the things you need and prams, car seats, cots and the like are not cheap by any account but once you have them then it becomes a little easier financially when you have another..in fact the only thing that we are likely to need sometime after no2 is born is another cot and possibly a twin pram for the both of them.
The last thing i want this post to sound like is a whine about the cost of children, Aaron has brought a lot of joy into mine and Felicity's life and thats something money just can't buy and i don't begrudge a single penny that we have spent on him, i just thought it would be interesting to have a little toatal for the year so far.

I'd be willing to bet its nowhere near as much as the lads and myself each pi$$ up against the wall every year, and you have something to show for it! We dont!

I have my own little baby permanently attached to the front of my stomach. Took years of hard work and money to build that up.

Chris, like matt said, you all have babies of varying szes attached to your stomachs!
but good on you mark, i can't wait for the same satisfaction you have from children!

And you have boobs to feed em!

Hankering after a family are you Lee?...and yes, you guys probably do spend more money on beer per year than we do on Aaron...at the moment, the cost of children tends to increase exponentially year on year as they get older.

Mark, maybe one day after the wedding ans stuff. at the moment, probably not a good idea.

You'll probably be alright with Aaron, but if your new baby is a girl wait till she gets into teenager land, and hide the credit cards

If it only cost 650 a year for a child i would of had 10 by now, god knows how you manage to do it so cheap and considering the child benefit covers your complete annual costs of childcare,no wonder your not too fussed about making money from your laughable secret business venture.

Just checked out the child benefit rate and it works out 840 a year given to u to help you feed your child and you short change him by a couple of hundred quid a year. What a wonderful father you are So i take it the Asda wages are just for beer money.

I think you need to read the post again as at no point did i say that a child costs just £650 a year, as for having ten surely that would require some form of male participation which your not getting if they keep dumping you and as for the 'secret business venture, there's nothing secret about it..if your pissed off cause i never replied to your query last time it's cause your interest did not concern me..if i had a service that you required, which i don't, i would not do any work for you if you were the last person on the face of this god forsaken planet and you continue to show your moronic ignorance every chance you get.

Well put that man!

I have read what you wrote, and you did quote 650 you are the idiot not i. As when i told my friends what you estimated they laughed and asked if your feeding it jam on toast every night. Probably lard i expect, and if i wanted to live on the breadline i wouldnt of doubted Chris like i did, it maybe cruel but its true, if he finds money tight with a full time job half a morgage and a free car then he aint much use to i.

You are a serious psycho hose beast. I think you need to seek psychiatric help before you start cutting off your limbs and posting them to Chris.

Jesus is she still talking bollocks? Why don't you just leave us alone and get on with your life as we're really not interested in ANYTHING you have to say. I dumped you, end of story, move on.

God to think you let her into our house.... What a freak!!
It is funny listening to my 2 Bosses at work. they are both on there first child and they keep going on about the amount of cash they are spending!!!!
Man i think that when I bought this house with Chris(not gay or nowt!!) I spent £45 on a kettle and toaster and thought that this would buy me a great night on the beer!!!
God if I ever have kids....... Maybe I should stay single and not bear that on this world....LOL

It's very easy to get caught up in the whole 'novelty' thing of your first child..you want to buy them the coolest gear, the nicest clothes etc...when we went out to get a new car seat it set us back £60...and that was trying to keep the cost down.
If this next one turns out to be a girl then i just know that i will be going outs and spending hundreds on girly stuff and clothes...and the saddest thing is i will probably enjoy buying them.
