25/05/2005 Entry: "Liverpool: European Champions 2005"

Well........it's gone half time and i have now turned over the channel, Liverpool, to my sadness, are being played of the park and i can't bear to watch it anymore as Milan go out onto the field for the second half with the intention off...and probably will adding to their 3:0 score line, the composed Liverpool team that kept Chelsea and Juventus in check is no where to be seen and the AC Milan team that oh so nearly got their ass kicked by PSV have been replaced by a sublime passing, very quick and strike deadly outfit that managed to score in about 50 seconds.

[edit]
Ignore that post from earlier, what the fuck do i know about football anyway. Liverpool emerged at half time a completely different side and after 4 mins Steven Gerrard headed home for 3:1, then a minute later Smicer smashes in a 25 yarder that Dida fumbles making it 3:2...then suddenly on 60 minutes Gerrard is brought down in the Milan box and Alonso scores on a rebound from the penalty spot...what an absolutely fantastic, edge of the seat comeback for the reds, Milan must have been wondering what the fuck was going wrong and it rocked them to the core, the bold and flashy AC Milan were gone, replaced by a very nervous team indeed.
Extra time saw a match of 2 very tired teams suffering from cramp but with the last 5 mins of extra time, just when Milan looked like scoring, Jerzy Dudek pulls out not one but two absolutely stunning saves to send the game to penalties.
With palms sweating as the shoot out got under way and Milan going first i noticed that Jerzy was going out of his way to make sure he handed the ball the player and eyeball him, then when he retreated to his goal he started waving his arms, jumping around and wobbling his legs...just like Bruce Grobbelaar did in 1984...it worked though with the first Milan player sending it sky wards, the second Milan player had it saved and finally Shevchenko had his saved turning Liverpool from campaign underdogs to European Champions of 2005.. and because they have now won it 5 times (only the third team to win it 5 times in it's history) they get to keep the cup.
I'm sorry i doubted it for a minute and i still can't believe it'd happened but i couldn't be more happier, the biggest travesty would be if UEFA don't let Liverpool in the competition next year to defend as champions[/edit]

It was an amazing final mate. i was listening to five live and i couldn't believe my ears. 3-0 down at half time i thought it was all over, but never write off an english team, like man utd in 1999 we play until the final whistle. absolutely chuffed for liverpool and english football as a whole. Unfortunately i heard this morning that UEFA wont be letting them in and its up to the FA to make a U-turn...whatch this space.

I have been struggling all day with my voice after last night! I cheered my f**king arse off in the pub til I was bleedin horse! After that showing, the boys deserve no less than to be able to defend the title next season! I can see the new Calsberg ad now... "The greatest comeback ever? Probably!"
