23/05/2005 Entry: "By George it's hot!!"

Had an interesting day at Asda today, turned up for work at 6am this morning to find all the night staff and a few staff that start at the same time as i do all assembled outside and a fire truck at the back of the building.
Turns out that a faulty light bulb in the George clothing department had set fire to some clothes and had someone not seen it by chance (George department is in a corner of the store and does not have night staff) then Asda Blackpool might not have been saved.
So there i was cursing the fact that i could of had a lye in this morning waiting for the all clear to get to work which didn't come till about 8/8:30am which meant i had to work my bollocks of to get the delivery out onto the shelves before we opened at 9:30am and that although the thick smoke had now cleared with a little help from the air conditioning the air was still heavy with the smell and taste of chargrilled cotton on a bed of cous-cous.
I suppose the most alarming thing of all is that despite the fact that we have heat sensors and sprinklers though-out the building, not one was set off by the heat of the fire and the fire alarm only came on with a bit of prompting.

On another subject is the story this morning in the popular morning tabloid The Sun. On the front page they have 3 young children.....sorry, mothers who all belong to the same family and have given birth to their progeny at the age's of 12, 14 and 16 respectively...inside the so called mother goes on the blame the shortcoming's of the sex education syllabus in schools for her slapper daughters getting knocked up and not, as i would suggest, her complete lack of ability at being a mother, responsible adult and single most important caretaker of her children's future...this family alone rips of us responsible working adults benefits to the tune of over £31,000 a year, all because their mother chooses to pass the buck instead of educating her children in how to keep their legs closed.

If people were given intellegence tests and then sterilised if they failed. The world would not be full of idiots. I vote for that.
