30/04/2005 Entry: "Chelsea Football Club"
Just thought i would make a little observation post.....
In the good old The Sun newspaper today the was a little column from Jimmy Greaves about the fact that we all seem to be anti-Chelsea at the moment and goes on to assume that it's because the avid sports fan of this country has a typical attitude of knocking any club that is 'new and successful' and goes on to say that Jose Mourinho is a 'breath of fresh air'.
Now don't get me wrong, fair play to them for winning the Prem title after tonights 2-0 win over Bolton...and i have no doubts about Jose's quality as a manager but having spent over 100mill on players you would have half expected them to win....it's the closest you can come to buying the prem title without actually walking up to the FA and paying for it.
Anyway, the main reason for the post was more for my own assumption as to why there is an anti-Chelsea mood...i think it's more to do with the fact that, over the last month or two, just about every single day we have had various members of the Chelsea team exclaiming that they are the best, they are unstoppable, they are on a different planet when it comes to football, they will dominate for the next ten years etc, etc, etc and it's become rather tiresome and boring...and one can't help hoping that they will get an arse kicking on the field to bring them back down to earth.
I really will be routing for Liverpool to put the skids under Chelsea's drive for the treble and knock them out of the Champions League Cup in the second leg....a hard task indeed considering their poor form at the moment in the prem (yet again fucking it up when it really mattered, a chance to close the gap on Everton to 1 point when they lost to Fulham only to bloody draw with Middlesbrough)...lets hope the team thats strolls out onto the pitch at Anfield is the team that gave Juventus such a hard time.

Tis always the same with Liverpool mate, they rise to the occasion on the bigger fixtures, but dont have the heart when it comes to teams they should beat easily. Chelsea will be on a high after winning the title when they turn up at Anfield for the 2nd leg, and I personally think (And as a life long Liverpool fan hope) they will become victims of their own overconfidence. The FA have stated that the holders of the European cup should be allowed to defend it the following year, so Liverpool have everything to play for in the 2nd leg. It looks increasingly unlikely they will overtake Everton in the league, so this could be their only chance of qualifying for next years champions league. I firmly believe that they will rise to it, and if they beat Chelsea, then they will go on to win the competion. Go on the reds!!!
