Rafa and Ferguson feud
Posted by Mark | Filed under Football, Liverpool FC, News, TV
Been reading the comments made by Rafa Benitez about Alex Ferguson and i have to say it’s great for a manager to finally come out and attack Fergusons lack of respect the way Ferguson attacks everyone else. Of course everything Benitez said is true and really the proof really will be in the eating now as the FA look set to ‘investigate’ Rafa’s comments and the ‘context’ in which they were made. (more…)
Why oh why oh why!!!!!!!

Does Anthony insist on having toilet accidents when he’s fully toilet trained. It’s not as if he doesn’t have access to the toilet or does not know how to use it but yet he still has these absent minded accidents. Maybe i’m being overly harsh as he’s only 2 and a half years old and maybe it’s unfair to compare him to Aaron who once toilet trained has been pretty much accident free…. (more…)
New look

Changed things around a bit, got rid of the theme changer as it got a bit tiresome having loads of theme’s to update when i made code changes so i’ve now got just the one theme. I will more than likely change it every now and then to keep it fresh looking and as i’m in a ‘dark frame of mind’ then here’s a theme to reflect it…enjoy

Ageism
Posted by Mark | Filed under Football, General, News, TV, Websites
I’m curious as to why a ‘spokesperson’ from Help the Aged felt the need to get involved in a comment made by Alex Furguson about the age of the Chelsea team that quite frankly bore little relevance to true Ageism.
Kate Jopling decided she needed to jump on her soap box and berate Furguson for his ‘ageist attitudes’ when all he was doing was pointing out the fact that Chelsea have a lot of players knocking around the 30 mark. (more…)
Netherlands V Italy Euro 2008

Cracking game last night, great flowing attacking football from both teams with Italy never really getting anywhere and being totally outclassed at times by the Holland team. Today we see the aftermath of the first goal NOT being ruled for offside with debates raging all over the news and forums…was it or wasn’t it offside?
Well in my view Van Nistelrooy was ONSIDE when he scored..although the reasons as to why are a bone of contention themselves. (more…)

Great day out
Posted by Mark | Filed under Birthdays, Football
I would like to thank my friends Lee, Chris and his better half Zoe for a great day out yesterday. As part of Chris’s birthday present last week Zoe bought him a ticket to watch Liverpool play Fulham and both myself and Lee got some tickets as well. Both Lee and Zoe are ManU fans (no accounting for taste really) so it was nice of them to go as well and myself and Chris are Liverpool fans who have never been to Anfield (i generally hate crowds which is why i don’t really do concerts either) so it was great to visit the stadium and soak up the atmosphere.
The whole day was an enjoyable experience and very much one that myself and Chris want to do again…helped by the fact Liverpool beat Fulham 2:0 and the fact Liverpool we kind enough to leave it till the second half till they scored in front of the kop end which is near to where we were sat in the main stand. Unfortunately as penance for Lee going to Anfield he is insisting we return the favor and watch an apparently ‘proper’ team play in an apparently ‘better’ stadium in Manc land…
Liverpool shine as Chelsea fall short
Posted by Mark | Filed under Football, General, News
Yet again Liverpool prove their pedigree as they overcome an ineffective Chelsea team…it was not a pretty match to watch as both teams resorted to long ball tactics but Liverpool showed more drive and willing to win…and should have won it in extra time with Kuyt’s excellent rebound goal that was wrongly ruled offside.
It is just desert’s for Chelsea who’s manager Jose Mourinho has been nothing but disrespectful and belittling of Liverpool and it’s history..going so far as to call Liverpool a ‘small’ cup club..which incidentally is all they will be this year… and should they fail to secure the FA cup at the end of the season then all they will have to show for this years campaign is a little Carling Cup trophy…not much of a return for the millions of pounds they pay out in signing the ‘best’ players in the world and some way short of the much touted ‘quad’ they reckoned they could get.
The fact is that yes, we are a good cup side but that is not an excuse to belittle the club..up until the Abramovich era Chelsea had only won the top flight division ONCE in their entire 100 year history and won the UEFA’s Cup Winner’s Cup only twice with a near 30 year gap between the wins (and it’s widely accepted that the Cup Winners Cup was the easiest of the three European comps at the time). We may not have won the Premier Division since it’s inception in 1992 and i really hope that we will hit the sort of consistency and form that will finally allow us to win it but we have won the old top flight Division One 18 times and won the European Cup 5 times to date and the FA cup 7 times compared to Chelsea’s 3.
Chelsea compared to the rest of the ‘top 4′ really are the smallest club in terms of success and had it not been for the obscene amounts of money made available to pay ridiculous sums of money to buy players and offer extravagant wages then they would still be a small team knocking around mid table obscurity…the fact is their reputation is built ENTIRELY on financial muscle.
Mourinho continues to moan about lack of respect for him or his team yet he continues to show no respect to his opponents and as far as i am concerned he got what he deserved tonight, he is quoted after the match as saying “We were the best team today, even against a team only playing for the Champions League.” but they were not, they sat back for the first 20 mins before Liverpool scored and then tried to impose themselves, at some points in the match possession was well over 60-40 in Liverpool’s favor and i think they only had 2 or 3 chances on goal the entire match. He also said “In extra-time we were the only team who tried to win, but football is like that and the penalty shoot-out is part of the game.”, the reason they ‘tried’ to win it in overtime is because they realized there was a real possibility they could lose this match…they did nothing to really try to win it in the first 90mins and then started to panic throwing on pacey wide men to try to force the game (and the first thing Robben did when he came on was start throwing himself to the ground with the slightest of contact). Mourinho has never been one to accept defeat with any grace and i for one will be glad when they finish the season with just the Carling Cup to show for their troubles…it’s all the manager deserves.
