Hope you had a festive Christmas and a happy new year, i know i did. I even got to go out and celebrate new year with the wife which i think is a first for a few years now as she’s always working and i normally have to stay at home to look after the kids. New mobiles

It’s that time of year again…or it was in August but 3′s selection of available phones we can upgrade to is rather naff and we fancied a change.
There are a few phones we were interested in that were not available on 3 so we had a look around and after a friends generous offer never panned out we had a look at www.mobiles.co.uk, they are an online subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse and offer some truly awesome free gifts on some of their packages. Wii men ‘want to conquer’

MEN spend hours playing video games because it satisfies a basic urge to “conquer”, according to a new study. Scientists believe that winning games stimulates parts of the male brain linked to rewarding feelings and addiction.

It may explain why men are more likely to get hooked on consoles like the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 than their wives, girlfriends and sisters. (more…)

Platstation 3 in detail.

Didn’t take long did it before someone decided to take apart their expensive new toy in the name of ‘science’.

Here are a couple of links, the first one is to the Inquirer that has a little news on the release of the PS3 and some links to some vids, the second link is to Gizmodo that has a 2 minute walk though of the PS3′s new interface…which is basically the PSP interface but with a lot more features.

I suppose one of the features thats raising a few eyebrows is the ability to install third party OS systems onto the PS3, no more in depth details as of yet but one OS system reported to be supported is Linux.

Playstation 3 released

Well, in Japan anyway where people have been queuing since Friday evening to try and get their hands on one of Sony’s new console. However with only 100,000 units available to buy there’s going to be a lot of disappointed people out there.

Considering Sony were originally going to release the PS3 in early 2006 this late release means Sony are now a year behind Microsoft, who released their XBox 360 in November 2005 and the European release date for the PS3 is not expected till March 2007…lets hope the wait is worth it.

As much as i would love to get a PS3 i don’t think it’s gonna happen…pretty much for the same reason as i’ve barely touched my PS2 for over 2 years now……the kids.

Aaron’s a pretty inquisitive kid and something spread over the living room floor with loads of cables lying around is just pure investigating bliss for him…and now Anthony has started to crawl (and he’s bloody fast to) it’s makes it even harder to justify buying a new console…so i might have to sit this one out.

I think the price is still very much open to speculation for the European release but expect to pay at least £250/300 for the base 20GB hard drive model.
